About the Artist

I’m a 71 year old veteran, Electrical Engineer, and I have a Masters in Woodworking from the Marc Adams School of Woodworking. I get most of my artistic talent from my mother who graduated from Wester Michigan University with a major in Art and a minor in biology. She loved to work with wood and especially old furniture and antiques.
I work in my shop at home outside of La Center, KY.

About the Work

I use found wood. I cut a log to length, split it in half along the growth length, trim the corners, and then turn it in the lathe in the shape of a bowl. After that I embellish it by cleaning out the insect holes and cracks and splits and then backfill them with color epoxy.
The design of the bowl is determined by the shape of the log, its color, the grain, and the condition of the wood.
